Smoothies and the craving for solid food

I like smoothies, have many different recipes, and use them regularly. No matter what I put in them and no matter how filling they are, I find that after I have one I still want "real" food I can chew. It's not necessarily hunger, but more of a mental thing I can't seem to shake. Has anyone else run into this, and if so, did you just have to push through it?

Why not get your protein from chewable food? I have a strong desire to chew, too. There's beef jerky, nuts, crackers, all sorts of things to help satisfy the desire to chow down.

I don't like drinking meals, no matter how many calories are in a smoothie. So I'll have a smoothie as a snack or as part of a light meal.

I don't use smoothies. They are more likely to derail me, no matter what I have tried. I enjoy them, so if I absolutely want one I make a small one as part of my snack and not the whole thing.

I'd rather have solid food than liquid food so I just don't drink them anymore!

I'm the same way. That's why I no longer bother with smoothies.

I like having a smoothie with some solid food along the side. For breakfast, I like a fruit smoothie with a side of bacon or a couple of boiled eggs. It amps up the protein in the meal.

I like smoothies, but I prefer to actually eat.

Have you tried chewing gum afterward to see if that helps? If it doesn't... maybe go back to solids. Or have a smaller smoothie aside some solid foods.

You had me at "side of bacon"...
