So this is my getting started story. I've lost weight before, 30 or 35 lbs at a go. But now I am bigger than ever before and I'm feeling less able to make a change than ever before. It seems like every time I even think of changing my diet and losing weight and especially if I do actually lose 5 or six pounds, my mind and body bring a merciless vengeance down on me and I go out of control eating all the pizza and candy etc. that I want. I end up gaining more than I lost. My mind says "oh it just takes will power, you know what you need to do, it's a simple matter of cutting out junk food and eating quinoa and salad and chickpeas and such." But it just feels like I hit a brick wall any time I try to put a plan into action. I've read all the articles and seen all the diagrams and I know what a healthy diet ought to be. The brick wall comes when I think of hardly ever getting to eat all the delicious food that I love and that it feels so good to eat. Another huge problem is that all those foods that are supposed to digest slowly and keep you full leave me hungry an hour or two after I ate them. I absolutely hate being hungry all the time and a fat juicy donut actually does satisfy my belly for while. Just so frustrating trying to change eating habits permanently. So those are my frustrations, but I really do want to make those changes. Exercise isn't that big a problem for me. I can get myself to exercise pretty well

I felt like this for a long time before finally lost the weight. I felt like I couldn't do it because there was no way I could commit to never eating chocolate again, or donuts, or oatmeal creme pies. What finally clicked for me was the discovery that I don't have to give up all of those foods, or at least not all of them all the time. I still eat a serving of ice cream every night while losing weight. I still eat a fresh donut every time I stop by my parents' house.
There are a lot of things that go into weight loss and you can tackle them a bit at a time rather than leaping into the deep end with both feet! If a donut keeps you full, great! Have one and log it. The overall day is far more important than any one food item that goes into it.
Log your food for a little while and see what fits and what you might need to cut back on or make room for. You might be surprised.
As a P.S. I'll also add that sometimes we just aren't ready to commit. I wasn't for a very long time. Make your peace with that. In my personal opinion, trying to force yourself to do something you're not ready for just leads to negative feelings and resentment that you don't need in your life.

Being ready to commit is the first place to start... Once you get your mind ready to commit, you have already made the first move. then make a plan and start that plan.. finish the plan.. Cannot get anywhere in life without the road map..
Keep in mind all the days that have past where you kept reading and thinking about it, where you would be today if you had started back then..
Get the mind right and the body will follow!!! Guaranteed!0 -
Start small. Drink more water. Eat the same things you're eating now, but start downsizing your portions.
Also, instead of dwelling on what went wrong when you gained the weight back, focus on what worked when you lost the weight initially. Keep doing what worked and eliminate what doesn't. You can do it!0
