Weight loss question from my boyfriend

My man is trying to shed five or so pounds, so he started using this app and working out with me. According to this app, he was eating far too little ( which I'd actually told him before but he's just not a guy that's hungry a lot). If he raises his calorie intake to the supposed appropriate intake for his size is he more likely to gain or loose weight? He's concerned about this. What would be the best way for him to gain muscle and loose fat? I'm sure the Jillian Michael's vids he does to encourage me will help but he'll probably need to do more lifting correct? Please let me know!!!

Which Jillian DVD are you guys doing? I think if he sticks with it, he is sure to lose 5 pounds from it!

There isn't a magic formula. If he wants to achieve his goals he needs to eat the amount of calories set, workout and have patience.

NerdFitness is a great resource for basic strength workouts

Don't mean to be rude but if he is worrying about it and he is a member of this site was is he not asking himself?

Also, he just doesn't like dealing with people in general. Especially online cause people get too cocky behind a keyboard. Lol

If you could give us his current weight, age and height we can do some calculations for you to find out if he is eating the right amount for the amount of exercise he is doing.

He's definitely not going to add muscle doing aerobics videos and eating at a big deficit.

he need to choose if he wants to gain muscle or loose fat you don't do both at the same time. loosing fat will make the muscles you have more defined but won't add more muscle. if he does want to add muscle he should stop doing JM videos and start lifting and eating on avg 10% higher than his TDEE
