Recumbent bike. Why didn't I do this before?

I had been running for the last several months. Yeah, I got pretty good at it and I could squeeze out a 7 minute mile, also did some 5K runs, did a few 10 milers.

Then back problems hit. "Radiculitis" with sciatica symptoms. I've been told I should conservatively stop running and switch to swimming or biking, or, if I'm gutsier, just wait for the symptoms to resolve (2-4 months) and then ease back into it.

Well, I got a recumbent bike. The thing is quieter than my treadmill, so I can put it in my living room (as opposed to my treadmill, which I always kept in the garage - the banging would wake my kiddos in the morning otherwise). It's comfortable. I can surf the web, watch TV, and oh yes, it burns calories like crazy. My legs are becoming tree trunks.

I may get back into running down the line, but right now, I think I'm pretty happy.

If anyone's interested, I got a Schwinn 270 model. It supposedly syncs with MFP, but currently that feature isn't working. It's otherwise not a bad bike, although I wouldn't recommend people buy the Schwinn bikes for this feature right now, as it doesn't work as promised.

Anyways, for what that's worth.
