You'll be fine. One day won't completely destroy your diet. Don't obsess over this, everyone slips up once in a while. Get back at it. Good luck.

Know that if you weigh yourself immediately tomorrow morning, you may see a temporary gain, but it will show water weight from the sodium or carbs that are causing you to retain water. It's not a fat gain, so don't fret over it too much!!

You will not gain two pounds from eating 800 extra calories once. Don't beat yourself up over it and just keep at the 1200. Or, exercise an extra 800 calories off during the week if you're too worried!

You don't need to do this, but it would be a really good idea to see if you can modify your MFP goal so that your calorie intake is a bit higher. I saw your diary was open, and you have a lot of days where you're only consuming 1000 calories (MFP wants you to consume AT LEAST 1200 calories and at least half of your exercise calories). Remember that it's not a race to lose all the weight you need to lose in the quickest amount of time, but you should be forming habits that you can sustain on for the rest of your life. Even changing your goal from losing 2lbs a week to 1-1.5lbs will give you an extra 250-500 calories to eat and might make it less likely for you to feel deprived and binge later on.

It's one day. One day didn't make you fat, and one day isn't going to make or break your diet.

I've lost 65 lbs since August and just dont want to stop myself from losing i still have around 60 lbs to lose. I wasnt hungry it was stress that did it we are putting a metal roof on a ladys house and we were short on the felt paper you put under the tin and i was worried that maybe we wouldn't have enough tin but we did so it was the place were we get the metal from didnt figure it out right. My husband wasn't worried but thats me. Its a hard business to be in if you make mistakes.

It's one day. Log it and move on. Don't eat below your 1200. Just make today a better day.

Let's do the math, shall we?

So your max calories should be 1200 based on what you put in to MFP.

    You consumed 800 extra calories.

A pound of fat is 3500 calories.

If 1200 was your maintenance, you would be looking at a possible 0.23 lb fat gain.

But 1200 isn't your maintenance. The 800 extra calories merely mean you've slowed your progress by maybe 0.23 lb. If we could look at the future, maybe we'd see that you reach your goal weight a day later now than you would have otherwise. That's okay, isn't it?

Get back on track the next day. Be honest with your logging, accept that you went over, and move on.

    :)

If you ate anything that was particularly high in sodium there may be temporary fluid weight gain due to fluid retention. If this is the case, drink a little more water to help flush out the sodium.

I like the point that 1200 is not your maintenance figure. You might want to find out what that number is (you can change your setting to check and then change it right back again). You would only gain (fat- again, water weight is a possibility) by consistently eating over your maintenance number, not your calorie goal. Frankly, I'm amazed you've only had 1 day like this- I usually average at least a couple a month! :)

please start using a trending weight app now so that you will be able to mentally deal with the future where your weight loss will inevitably slow down.

your deficit is excessive. your weight loss speed is excessive. it has worked out so far because you started closer to morbidly obese than normal weight.

As you approach normal weight (congratulations of doing so, by the way) things will not continue to work out the same way. You body cannot and will not continue to shed just fat while you continue to hit it with months of 50%+ caloric deficits.

Sit and figure out how many calories you've been burning everyday between work and exercise.

Eat 20% less than that. (25% less than that while you continue to have a BMI>30)

Your body will thank you and you will end up with far fewer problems than if you continue eating at 1200.

    Best of luck.

There are no food police. If you eat more than a losing amount one day it won't matter in the long run. Any problem comes from panicking about it. Also, 1200 calories is really low even though it's a generally thrown around number.

1200 is what MFP told me to eat it started at 1260 but they kept changing my birthday and i would fix it and each time lowered my calories by 30 until it got to 1200 now they dont change my birthday any more i guess because they cant lower it any more. When i get less than 200 I will change it to 1.5 a week not 2. My dietitian said eat between 1200 - 1400.
