Calculating Butcher Meats?

How can I calculate butcher meats? For example, we have stuffed mushrooms and I'm not exactly sure how much of each ingredient is in there and the label doesn't provide that information. Normally I would just guess but I'm trying to be more accurate with counting calories. Thank you!

do you have a general idea of what type of stuffing is in them? If so I would just weigh one of the mushrooms and use that as the amount of filling.. example, if it is sausage and cheese stuffed and weighs 2oz, count as 1 oz sausage and 1 oz cheese. The mushroom itself can be a freebie.
Sometimes all you can do is guess.0 -
Sometimes you have to guess.
Also, why is a stuffed mushroom "butcher meats"?0 -
This is why its easier to just cook from scratch. All you can do is estimate....i always over estimate to hopefully make up for any errors.0

Well we get them from the butcher shop and yea they are stuffed with ground beef and cheese.
Normally i cook from scratch but my fiancee parents eat pre-made meals from the butcher shop so when we're invited over I'm not sure how to calculate which is pretty often. But thanks everyone! I suppose I'll just try to weigh them and over compensate to be safe!0 -
Can you ask the butcher for ingredients list0

This will not be particularly helpful with something like stuffed mushrooms - for something like that I agree with previous posters to try to estimate the calorie content, which I typically do by taking an average of the similar items in the food database - but for actual cuts of meats and things of that nature I find the USDA food list to be extremely helpful: http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list
They do have some pre-made foods listed, and it tends to be my go-to source for anything I don't make myself0 -
Thank you! Yea there's ingredients but not the amounts. I think I will ask to see if I can get to a more accurate amount0
