Sooooo i'm getting married next year :D 12th April to be precise.
I don't have many people to talk to about my wedding and all my hard times.

Anyway i've just purchased bridal shoes and I still haven't chosen my dress.
Many people will say it was a stupid thing to do but I guess its life..

I have found a dress I quite like but I want to lose 8kgs (approx 15lbs) before I purchase it and get my dress fitting done.

Not sure why i've made this post but I will reach my target!
I don't expect anyone to reply..

    Congratulations- what an exciting time!

BTW- buying your shoes before buying the dress is better so that when you try on dresses- you'll know what you look like! That's what I did! Also, if you can find an occasion to wear them before your wedding- that would be ideal- 1st, you can break them in, and secondly, they can be your "something old".

    Good luck!

I was planning on buying a dress similar to it.
I tried on dresses yesterday and today.
I'll post a pic of me in a dress similar to the one i've fallen in love with.

    Congrats!!! That's so exciting!!!

My recommendation would be to order your dress now, and buy the size that would fit you NOW. Then, in a few months when it arrives, go in for the fitting and know that you'll have plenty of room to fit it to your new fitter self.

The thing to remember about buying a dress, even if you order it when you're the size you want to be, it's still a good idea to order a size up, because unless you're a perfect plastic mold, you're going to need some alterations no matter what. For example, if your measurements are 36" Bust, 30" Waist, 37" Hips-- you're probably about a size 8 dress... expect that would make the waist a little snug, so maybe you buy a size 10... but then your bust isn't quite filled out, So you can choose from either not taking a deep breath, or needing a padded bra... or, you buy the 10" and have the bust & hips taken in a bit so that the whole dress fits you like a glove!

When I got married last year, I was a size 14 when I had to order my dress... I royally screwed up and order a 12 (I DO NOT recommend this!!! I literally had a melt down for a month when my dress arrived and didn't fit me!!!) Anyway, post-melt down, I got my sorry butt into the gym and set to work. By the time of my first fitting, I was just barely larger than a 12. So, my seamstress let the dress out a bit. At my next fitting, I was down to about a 10, so she took it back in (cursing me all the way  ) At my final fitting, I was almost down to a size 8!!! She had to take it in once again, and made the whole thing fit amazingly!

Hence, order the dress that will fit you tomorrow, and then once it gets closer, see how far you've come, and let them work their magic and make you feel like Cinderella with your very own fairy god mother to make a custom sized dress just for you!

    And congratulation on getting married!!!!!!!!!!

    Congrats on getting married!

You've still got awhile, so you could definitely wait, but just know that dresses can be taken in A LOT! I was around a size 12 when I bought my wedding dress, by the time I went to get it fitted, I had dropped down to a size 6! I had it taken in twice to fit me, and no one could even tell! So if you want to buy it now, go ahead...you can still lose the weight!
  • My grandad just told me don't put on a deposit for a dress you want incase you put on weight.
There is no way in hell that i'll put on weight.

My advice is to buy a dress that fits. Wedding planning is really stressful and it's difficult to lose weight at the same time. If I had a dollar for every "I bought a dress that's a size too small and the wedding is in 3 days and it doesn't fit!" post I'd be a rich woman. Don't do that to yourself.

Congratulations! And remember, bridal sizing can be quite different from regular sizing (at least in the US it is), so don't be too obsessed with buying a particular size, just get what fits you and looks good. When I was dress shopping I wore a US 12 but ended up buying a size 16 gown (I tried it on at the sample sale thinking surely it would be too large, but it actually fit perfectly up top and only needed to be hemmed, which was great in terms of saving alterations costs).
