Trying to stay away from carbs. So when I look for snacks or filling meals They are usually something with too much sodium. Example. Pickles, or soup. Chicken broth. What other snacks could I chose??? Cheese has too much fat etc.

You can buy low sodium varieties of both broths and soups(read the label carefully).

Some folks who eat lower carbs replace those calories with good fats eg. nuts, avacacos, fatty meats, not crisco. I've been pleasantly surprised how filling these can be. The fat in cheese is just fine, but many cheeses are loaded with sodium.

unless you have high blood pressure or another medical condition, sodium levels don't matter much

    same goes for carbs.

As you lower carbs, you raise fats, and keep Protein moderate. Macadamia nuts....mmmm........

Hummus and veggies? Not sure how much sodium is in hummus. No butter no salt popcorn, spray with cooking spray and add curry. Fruits always good. Toast with avocado.

For snacks..maybe check out cauliflower and peppers for low carb, low sodium. It is hard to keep sodium in-line with the calculator values. As Callitlikeiseeit says, if you don't have blood pressure or other medical condition, I'd make keeping carbs down the first priority. Also just ensure you drink enough water.

    Really....

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish though.

Typically if they remove something else (other then sodium) they add sodium. IE: remove sugar, add sodium. It tends to balance out the flavour, and has you craving whatever the product is.

LOW sodium is a good thing. Too much sodium and you will retain water, and continued high sodium intake will have long term adverse effects. Eating a mineral in LARGE quantities is not specifically good :)

Look for low-sodium soups and chicken broth, or make your own!

Nothing wrong with the fat in cheese. Fat is good for you :)

If you're buying pre-packaged stuff, check the sodium content before you buy it. Fresh foods will have less sodium. Packaged stuff tends to have it as sodium helps preserve them.

Frozen veggies and fruits are an exception here, I believe. But frozen meals often have a higher sodium content than a similar dish would if you made it yourself.

im not telling anyone to go out and eat off a salt lick but assuming they aren't eating pre packaged and overly processed food, then no, it really isn't much of an issue unless you have an underlying medical condition.

Cook your food from scratch to cut that sodium.

I follow a low sodium lifestyle (for blood pressure). I eat unsalted roasted almonds in the morning and hummus and vegetables in the afternoon.

I have low blood pressure yet I'm INCREDIBLY salt sensitive, so I completely understand your distress.

If you really want soup, look for LOW (not always reduced) sodium! Look at the mg PER SERVING, and compare among the different brands and look for the lowest. If this doesn't work, you could always pour half a can of soup in a bowl and add water, but I've never tried this and can't say how that would affect the taste versus trying to buy one intended to be lower in sodium.

You could also look for lean ground beef which has hardly any sodium in it, and then use it as a topping on spinach, lettuce, green beans (frozen or fresh, not canned), etc. for a healthy and filling meal.

Instead of salad dressings, you could try using some tzatziki which I find to be very satisfying.

You could also make yourself a hard boiled egg, protein shake (some brands have more sodium than others so again read the labels), or even go for some greek yogurt (my favorite is Dannon's Light & Fit varieties which only have 80 calories per container or their bigger tubs have around 130 calories for one cup of vanilla).

Just keep an open mind and open eyes on the labels, you'll be surprised how many options are out there!
