Rude People at Gym!!
Okay, long time creepy lurker, first time thread starter here.
Yesterday I found the most amazing curl machine, with a dumbell bar on this awesome rack at about thigh height in a metal cage. So I took the plates off (amazed at posers pretending they can curl with the plates!) and set up to do my usual 15X35 with the empty bar.
I couldn't believe it, but people kept glaring at me! One guy even asked to work in, but he was doing leg exercises, and that's just kind of a dumb superset--quads & curls, so I said "no." He called me a name I can't repeat here--must be drinking from the haterade.
Lots of people kept giving me dirty looks! They just resented how many reps I can do in a set; most people I see can't do more than 10 or so. Has anyone else encountered such rudeness like this? I don't know what their problem is!!

I'm tired of ladies calling me rude at the gym. Just because I sniff the seats on the machines and bicycles when they leave, does not make me RUDE!!!!!!0

Rude people suck... but resenting you for reps? That made me chuckle
Either way....ignore 'em.0 -
Mmm, people at my gym are pretty nice. I dunno if it is because I'm female so they treat me better or something.
But what I don't like is the stench. It smells like nasty, sweaty dude all the time. It is disgusting.0 -

Not quite like that but I have encountered rude people at the gym. I think that we all have. But to have some actually call you a bad name for not letting him/her work in is more then I have had happen. I am sorry that it happened to you but I am sure with your charisma and determination you won’t let it bother you!0

Hmmm, methinks you may be the rude one - at very least a judgmental know-it-all. Just sayin'.0

I know, some people at the gym are just rude. Women are the worst.
Just the other day, I approached a woman that was doing some funny exercise with a barbell on her back and going down real low and coming back up. I think she was trying to work legs or something which is ridiculous, it is all about the upper body. I didn't want to interrupt her rest sessions so I approached her while in her she was in the middle of her set and told her how beautiful she was and all that business. She looked at me like I was crazy. Why would she do that? So, I just headed back to my Zumba class shaking my head.0 -

Honestly, you are not going to like my answer, unless it is going to upset your timing between sets, good manners say everyone needs to share the equipment, so what is one guy working in going to do? So without knowing how it was said or why, I would say you were wrong.
Now how many reps you do is completely up to you; are you going for strength <6, Size 6 to 10 or Tone >12. Everybody has different goals.
And honestly, unless you are working out with teenagers or twenty-somethings, in my opinion, most people could probably care less what you are doing, other than to figure out if you are doing something that they might want to think about doing in there next routine, or are waiting to use that machine next.
In my opinion, most people at the Gym seem friendly to me, but I have to remember I am there to get in shape, get a workout it, and not socialize, I am married. (Though it does occasionally happen. Whether socially or discussing different exercises with others.)0 -
Um... why would you want to do more than 10 or so in a set? And I sure as hell can curl with the plates on the bar, lol.
Edit; 10/100 -

What does being married have to do with sharing the squat rack?0 -
