Foot cramps

Any advice on shoes or inserts that will help with foot cramping? Zumba is my favorite exercise but my feet cramp so bad that I can barely make it through a workout.

    Foot cramps suck. Do you walk barefoot at all?

    My feet cramp quite frequently during the early evening ... especially if I exercise during the early evening, but sometimes even when I don't exercise.

    There does seem to be a distinct relationship between how much I drink during the day and whether or not my feet will cramp. If I drink quite a bit of water, I'm less likely to cramp.

    There also seems to be a relationship between my salt intake and whether or not I will cramp. I have pretty much got the drinking down now, and have reduced the chances of cramping, but I will cramp on days when I don't salt my food.

    So ... you might pay attention to your hydration and salt consumption during the day before you exercise and see if making some adjustments to that makes a difference.

    Have your tried pre workout stretches? I'm prone to random foot cramps post - ankle surgery, so I've taken to doing standing stretches morning and evening standing barefoot on a step with my instep on the edge of the step and my heel hanging down off the step.
