I wear the assic gel. I NEED to have cushion for my feet, knees and back. If I try to those work outs barefooted, it is like lightening bolts running down my legs.

See if you can get a pair of light weight cross trainers.

I did a few of the workouts in my vibram 5 finger shoes and didn't have too much of an issue with it however I did like the padding in the sneakers.

To avoid more foot surgery I just avoid Insanity and all the other programs.

Far too much impact on my feet.

I was looking into the Nike Free's because Shaun T recommends cross trainers. Someone who has done the program said they didn't provide enough cushion. So I will check out different types on line! Thanks everyone.

Asics are my go to shoe for all exercise activities. They are priced $80-$150 but well worth it.

    Here are my favs....

Yeah good idea. And do not be shy, when you put them on, JUMP up and down a few times in the shoes. Pick the one that is most comfortable and the least impact on your body.

Good luck, I am looking forward to see your results from Insanity.

strengthen your feet. there are over 100 muscles in your feet, that are not used because of Support (shoes).
go barefoot, in home, then do the exercises (found online) to strengthen feet/ankles. then you wont need shoes :-)

all my knee, hip, and back pain , and foot pain (fallen arches, plantar faciitis, heel spurs), ALL WENT AWAY by ditching shoes.

I've caved to using the same shoes I wear to my food service job because nobody seems to be building a better mousetrap fit-wise. And if they are, I probably can't afford it. If you wouldn't stand on your feet for an eight hour shift in a pair of shoes, why would you go to the gym with them?
