Counting Steps while also logging other exercise.

I have my diary set so it counts steps (I walk quite a bit during my work day). The steps are converted into calories and counted against my calorie intake. It works fine when walking is all I do.
Sometimes I do other exercise (rowing and cycling) and I bring my phone with me and it continues to count steps, though this is inaccurate because rowing strokes and pedaling is very different from walking. Furthermore, I log those exercises, using the guidelines on the website, so now I have the logged exercise and the steps, so I "double dip". How do I deal with that? There don't seem to be a way to erase the counted step, which would be one way to get a more accurate count.

I FOUND THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT IS TO SAY YOU WERE DRIVING (A CAR) FOR THE TIME YOU WERE LOGGING YOUR EXERCISE ELEWHERE.0
