Anyone else have this problem?

Ok, so. every night, I tuck my kids in bed, and get ready for a huge fight. Not with the kids mind you, they go to sleep easily, but with MYSELF. Seriously, when it's time to get off my butt and workout it's like a 2+ hour mental battle with myself trying to get me to move. One part saying GO and the other part going NO. I really hate it. I wish I could just get up and do it already. I really can't seem to be motivated at all
On that note i'm on day 49 of Power 90 without skipping a day so I guess that's something. It seems like I have to take 1 day at a time though I seriously never know if I'm going to be able to make myself get up or not.
Anyone have tips on staying motivated? I have my reasons to be fit - good ones - but that barely keeps me hanging on. Specially during plateaus. Ugh.

Well certainly you need a break. 49 days with no break? Of course you are burned out. And the same work out everyday? Maybe you could incorporate a nice walk or bike ride or something to give yourself a little variety. Is there a track where you can walk and your kids can just play in the grass or something?0

I understand what you mean as I have to really mentally "force" myself to exercise as well. For me, if I don't do it straight away when I get in from work then the chances are it won't get done as the longer I let myself relax for I talk myself out of it. It's different for you though , as you're fitting the exercise in around your routine with the children.
The only thing I can say is that every time I feel I don't want to do it, I try to make myself think of all the reasons why I'm doing it and hopefully that will be motivation enough.
Plus, perhaps you do need more variety in what you're doing to keep the interest going as the previous poster suggested. Good luck though, you'll hopefully find lots of arguments "for" doing it as opposed to "against"!0 -
I'm also doing Power 90 and while I love it, once in a while I need a break. So I go to gym or something else to mix up my routine. I get bored really easily. And if I'm bored of the exercise I won't do it.0

I don't know what your schedule is like, but have you tried working out in the morning? I tried the afternoon/night exercise thing and could never quite be consistent with it. I could always talk myself out of going. Working out in the morning allows me to give it my all and I have more energy for the rest of the day. Although I do agree with the other poster who said you might be burned out from exercising for 49 consecutive days.0

I'm not sure what your schedule allows, but I've always found that working out in the morning is better for me. I get it over and done with and get on with my day. Either that, or do it as soon as you get home, before dinner, before the kids go to bed (if you can). Everytime that I've saved it for the last thing of the day, I'm too tired and not motivated at all. It always got cancelled So, get it done early. Also, don't forget that your body does need a break. Working out 4-5 days a week is a very realistic goal. Also, having a work-out buddy helps keep you motivated. You are doing so well, keep it up!0

Honestly, for me, I HATE working out. Well...sort of. I hate starting but I usually feel great afterwards. Every morning/after work I have this internal battle with myself. My desire to go home, order take out and watch a movie always has a strong pull BUT I always end up working out...and here's why...
I ask myself "How bad do you want this?" and the answer is always the same. Really bad! I want to be fit/healthy/skinny REALLY REALLY BAD!! I think about how great it feels when I see a lower number on the scale or when I can go down a whole on my belt. Or when I tried on a size 16 thinking that they'd fit better when after I lost 30 lbs and found out I was actually at 10 instead.
I can't do that by ordering take out, sitting on my butt and watching a movie. I have to move, I HAVE to exercise or I won't change.
Don't give up! You CAN do this! :flowerforyou:0 -

Nah, Power 90 isn't the same thing every day, it alternates between weight training and cardio, and it gets harder as you go and switches things up a bit, plus every 7th day is a day off (Thank goodness, couldn't do it EVERY day, oh lordy lol) I do get out, walks and playing with kids at the park, swimming, elliptical and bike at gym if I get bored.
I see you guys recommend that I work out in the morning. I've tried, really. It just doesn't seem to happen! I get interrupted every 5 minutes with the kids underfoot even when I try to get them into it. Evelyn does get a kick out of trying to do it sometimes though, pretty cute (she's 4). Mostly though I am just SO not a morning person.
I'm glad i'm not the only one who feels a little blah about exercising. Man i'm just having a hard week I guess.0
