Hi! I just joined this site two days ago and would love to offer support and make a few friends.
I'm 36, married, no kids.
At 5'3" every pound up or down makes a difference. I'm currently teetering between 152 and 154 lbs. I wear between a size 10-12 in pants, M/L in shirts, 8-10 dress.
I'm hoping to get down to 125 lbs and then re-assess from there. I'd like to get back into size 6 pants, but more than anything, I just want to tone up, be healthier and look great again.
My first impressions of this site are very good. I downloaded the Runtastic pedometer app and linked it to my account which is a huge convenience! Even knowing I work a desk job and that my schedule is pretty sedentary, I never realized just how LITTLE I move throughout the day. 10,000 steps seems like a pipe dream right now, but I'm looking for ways to improve my activity level.
I'm having a bit of difficulty calculating the nutritional value of homemade meals and recipes and find it to be very tedious. So far I've just been plugging in every ingredient into the USDA Natural Agricultural Library. However, not all the fields are the same, and I'm having to convert vitamins from grams to mg (or vice versa,) calculate percentages based on a 2000 calorie diet and then adjust it to my daily goal of 1200 diet...not to mention also dividing for portions and serving sizes. (Also, did I mention I suck at math? :ohwell: )
I know that as soon as the novelty and "newness" of this site wears off, this process will become way too tedious to maintain and I'll begin to slip on my food diary. Also, what do you do if you order out at a local restaurant and they don't provide the nutritional information? It's not like a chain store that has a website you can look up. I'm open to suggestions for how to streamline this part.
Anyway, if you made it this far- thanks for reading. Feel free to send a message!

There's nothing so lonely as an intro thread with no responses. :laugh:0
