Vitamins and what not????

Is there any type of vitamins or other things that I should be taking while trying to lose weight?

That's a personal choice. A diet well rounded in proteins, Veggies, and fruits likely gets you decent nutrition. If you're eating reduced calories and are worried about micronutrients and vitamins then take a multi. I take one daily as my diet changes often and I'd like to be certain of a few nutrients I care about most.

I take a one a day multi in case I don't eat perfectly every day. Vitamins or other pills/herbs will not help you lose weight. If so, everyone would be skinny.

I take a multi vitamin and a D3 capsule. Recommended by my doc as I have a total thyroidectomy.

But spending a lot of money on vitamins is just a recipe for expensive pee (I believe Sheldon said that)

I have a multivitamin plus fish oil and a probiotic (for IBS issues). You dont need vitamins to lose weight but most diets are not well rounded enough to get all of the optimal levels of vitamins and minerals. Some people here think they are a waste of money, others say why not, and still others support vitamin consumption whole-heartedly. It's up to you to decide where you fall in the debate.

I usually use a multivitamin. Most likely it's just for expensive pee, but it is an insurance policy against malnutrition.
