Hi Pals
I need your vote. I have been struggling mightily trying to get back on track with healthy eating and weight loss. In fact, it has taken me almost two years to get back to this point where I am actively counting calories, eating whole foods and eliminating fast food. I have been very focused on meal prep. In fact, I have been dedicated to cooking my full week of meals on Sunday. I have a few goals: 1) Cut out red meat 2) Get my stomach accustomed to eating less food 3) Eat more whole foods 4) Be prepared with my own cooked foods so that I avoid fast foods. My main staple is fish. I LOVE fish right now and i can eat it every day of the week. I discovered a great sauce by McKormick which is a Lemon Dill Butter Sauce. It is low in calories, low in sodium, tastes delicious, allows me to avoid adding additional salt and butter to my fish....all around perfect EXCEPT....it has high fructose corn syrup as a main ingredient. Now, I didn't realize this at first. When I first started using this sauce, I was just focused on something tasty that could motivate me to eat my baked fish and get me excited about my prepared lunches. This sauce was great until I checked the label and saw the HFCS. Now I am facing a dilemma. I really love this sauce, it is perfect for me but I don't know if ingesting the HFCS (remember I eat this everyday) is worth the risk. I have started losing weight again. I am happy with my lunch and I dont' feel deprived. I have tried using some healthier sauces and I just don't like them. I am desperate to keep this weight loss trend going but I hear so much negative rhetoric about the HFCS that I am torn about what to do. And yes I know that I can switch to some other protein that doesn't require the sauce, but this meal is so light in calories yet filling. I don't think switching to another dish would give me the same results right now. I don't plan on eating this forever. This is just something that I planned for the next 30 days to help me lighten up on the calories until I get adjusted and back into a healthy routine. Tasty food is very important to me. I am not one who can eat raw Kale and vinegar smoothies. SO give me your vote. Is it worth eating a little HFCS if it helps keep me on plan and helps me keep my momentum OR should I drop this stuff immediately and go back to the drawing board? Vote now. Thanks Pals

If you like this sauce keep using it. The story regarding HFCS is blown out of proportion.0

Thank you. I appreciate that. I feel that I can always eliminate it later but for right now, I just need to get on track. I am sure that I am eating way more HFCS when I eat at the fast food places.0

It's all about the intake and how you get there. Yes!!0

The whole HFCS scare is way overhyped by tinfoil hat crackpots. As far as your body is concerned, HFCS is basically identical to regular white sugar.
If you really want to read more than a couple quick sentences to allay your fears, here's a research review that goes into more detail about it: bodyrecomposition.com/research-review/straight-talk-about-high-fructose-corn-syrup-what-it-is-and-what-it-aint-research-review.html/0 -
Thank you both for your advice. I hope this topic helps others who are struggling with doing what is best for them.0

Keep it simple, eat variety, track your calories, stay active. Stay consistent.
No issue with the sauce. Don't over worry.0
