Gaining weight!!

Hello! I'm a bit concerned...need a little help! So, I started dieting about 2 weeks ago. I am 5,6 almost 30 yr old F. When I started I weighted myself at 166. I've always hovered around 155 to 165 for years and being a bigger build I was never that concerned. I am a backpacker so I have a lot of leg strength but need to work on core and back for a big backpacking trip I am doing this summer. When I weighed in this week I was 168! I have been hiking at least an hour a day and more so over 5 miles and yoga twice a week. Im a little disappointed but trying to figure out what I'm doin wrong. I'm staying around 1200 calories a day and trying to make up for what I lose in working out. Do I ramp up my cardiovascular or add weight training?? Any advice as to why I'd gain 2 pounds??
