Hiiii! So I was watching a show on mtv when I first heard about the "chocolate diet". So I decided to look it up. It's said people have lost weight from just eating chocolate for like 4 days in a row. Has anyone else heard of it or tried it??

You can lose weight on any diet, provided you consume less calories than you burn.
I would not recommend eating one and only one food (chocolate or otherwise) for any sort of extended period of time....a balance of all essential macro and micro nutrients is important for health.
On a side note, don't take nutrition advice from MTV0 -
If you are eating it and maintaining a calorie deficit, yes you will probably lose. However it isn't sustainable because as soon as you go back to eating normal food you lose the deficit. It's better to learn to eat in moderation at a deficit which will be a skill you will help you continue to lose.
All that said. It sounds like fun!0 -
Yeah I personally wouldn't try it...but I know for some people eating chocolate all day is heaven lol. I was just curious if anyone on here tried it.0
-
I'm already on this diet. Well, at least there's plenty of chocolate already in my diet, I should say.
I love chocolate too much to go on an all-chocolate diet. I would be afraid I would get sick of it and that would be sad. Chocolate is delicious, but it doesn't have a well-rounded variety of stuff, so while it is a delicious diet, it's no different than going on The Asparagus Diet or The Popcorn Diet or The Cabbage Soup Diet. It may give you a deficit, but it's not sustainable and isn't teaching you anything about eating in a healthy, sustainable way so you can keep whatever weight you lose off for good.0 -
I agree 100%!!!@MommyL20150

MTV seems to be a bit behind the times.0 -
Google the Twinkies diet.......not healthy (not even tempting for me, I think Twinkies are gross)' like the chocolate diet it's all about CICO
Personally I'll stick with a balanced diet with lots of variety, as much as I love chocolate it would be pretty monotonous by day 2......

I also would not want to eat the same thing every day, even if it was chocolate! Or anything with sugar for that matter. It sounds like even if you did lose weight, there would be other repercussions.0
-
Yeah like diabetes! Lol you'll lose weight but end up with a bunch of health problems in the process. I agree I like a variety of different foods in my diet0
-
I work some chocolate into almost every day but I would never, even for a few days, eat only chocolate.0
-
Health issues aside, I'd go crazy eating just one thing and end up sick of chocolate. I'm also craving savory foods just thinking about it.0
-
That's called the mono diet.
Many anorexics do it.0 -
You really can lose weight eating chocolate. Real chocolate. Not candy. I have been eating Xocai healthy chocolate which is a gluten free, diabetic friendly chocolate that is cold pressed, like raw chocolate. It is not heated like candy and does not have the waxes and fillers and processed sugars. If you are thinking a candy bar, not likely you are going to lose weight, but a high antioxidant superfood, yes. If you want information on the study that was featured on the cover of the Bariatrician, the american journal of bariatrics for bariatric doctors just let me know. It is the healthy chocolate diet where you replace 2 meals a day with healthy chocolate shake and a normal dinner, lots of water, healthy snacks and healthy chocolate for cravings. The average participant lost over 31 pounds and 5 inches around the waist in 12 weeks.-4

You can lose weight eating whatever foods you like. Google the Twinkie diet. If I ate only McDonald's but still ate at a calorie deficit then I would still lose weight. Obviously I wouldn't do that because I believe a well balanced wide variety diet is best for overall health. But If I really wanted to, I could eat just chocolate or just pudding and still lose weight. Weight loss comes down to calories. Not the foods you eat. You can eat all carrots and still gain weight - because it comes down to calories.
Calorie deficit- weight loss
Calorie surplus- weight gain

I don't care for chocolate I seldom eat it so I would be in a lot of trouble.0

calorie is a calorie, as long as youre in deficit, youll lose weight.
however, youd feel like CRAP eating just chocolate.... (and i love chocolate LOL)0 -

Hi Candace, I just seen your post and I just wanted to let you know, I'm the girl from MTV that did the chocolate diet! Its weird I know but the more chocolate you eat, the faster you lose weight and the more weight you will lose. Don't worry at all about how much chocolate your eating. It is scary the first day. But I swear you will see life changing results I promise. Calories completely have no meaning to this diet. If you have any questions, seriously feel free to ask me anything. They didn't get as much information about the diet on the show as they should've. But thanks for showing interest!0

The bolded sentence shows that it's complete, ridiculous BS. Chocolate does not defy thermodynamics, nor does any other food. If you eat less than you're burning, you lose weight; if you eat more than you're burning, you gain weight. Speaking strictly in terms of weight loss (i.e., not considering general health, body composition or performance), it doesn't matter what you're eating. If you burn 2000 calories a day and eat 1500 calories of chocolate, you'll lose weight. If you burn 2000 calories a day and eat 2500 calories of chocolate, you'll gain weight.
This is exactly why nobody should take nutritional advice from MTV.0 -
I am pretty sure the girl at the end of the episode said that she learned it was a terrible way to eat and a terrible way to try and lose weight and she no longer did the diet. She said she realized how bad it was for her health.
Yes you can eat chocolate and nothing but chocolate and you'll lose weight. You'll probably also rot your teeth, get diabetes, and who knows what other health problems. Your hair might start falling out. You won't be healthy.0 -
I love chocolate. I could NOT do that.0

I can't wait to see where this thread goes.0

complete and total woo woo ...
chocolate does not change the fundamental laws of math and science....0 -
Hiii!! What a pleasure to hear from the actual girl who did the chocolate diet! Lol. Yeah I was watching the episode on demand like 2 weeks ago and it interest me. It seems cool that you can eat chocolate all day long and lose weight but I think I'm gonna stick to my calorie plan and eat a variety of foods. It will be healthier in the long run. It was nice talking to you though!0

Google "mono diet" and see how many pro ana sites it brings up. Seriously. It's messed up, and shows how unhealthy it is to eat only one calorie source and force your body to eat itself to survive!0

Four days without meat is unacceptable.0
