Pancreatitis flare ups

I suffer from chronic pancreatitis. If I'm not careful what I eat one day, I can be in pain for days after.
I had a bad flare up after Christmas, even though I thought I was eating reasonably well over the holidays. So, clear fluids for a few days. Jello, chicken soup, sugar free cranberry juice. Well mostly clear.
I told my doctor about it when she called, and she said that was a good plan.
Just when I think I'm back to normal, I eat a small burger yesterday because I hadn't eaten all day. Now I'm in major pain again today.
Does anyone else have this kind of problem, and how do you deal with it?
Just to clear it up, I lost half my pancreas because of a surgical error two years ago, and have been trying to get it 'right' since.

My sympathies. I had a minor bout brought on as a side effect of medication. Probably the worst pain I've ever had. Your diet sounds like what they told me to eat at first. I have a memory that I was told be careful with too much fat. Maybe the burger was too much to soon.

I'll say you might want to check with your Doc. Knowing the kind of pain you're in it won't be a problem. Hope you are well soon.

OK - 2 things you HAVE to do. Eat Low carb, to keep Insulin steady, and also begin taking 1 ea Enzymedica Digest Gold capsule 3 times daily with meals. You'll be feeling better in no time!

Thanks. I do know that fat is a problem, but I didn't think it was that much. Good thing I like chicken noodle soup. ;)

Fat is not a problem. Carbs are. Lack of Digestive Enzymes is.
