HRM During Strength Training

I wear my HRM during cardio exercise, and am wondering if keeping it running/counting during strength training is an accurate count of calories burned?

no, your heart rate does not directly correlate to calories burned. your heart rate is used in an algorithm to estimate what level of VO2 max you are working and lifting is not a good indicator of that...steady state cardio is so the algorithm also assumes steady state cardiovascular exercise is being performed. the further away you get from steady state cardio, the less accurate calorie burns will be.0

I think HRMs are only accurate for aerobic activity. Anaerobic activity is stop and go so may not record accurately on an HRM. I look at actual strength training as more of a HIT in the sense that you put all you've got into a lift (get your heart rate up) then rest and repeat. Anyway, I don't know.0

Sadly, no. Although I would be interested to know from a seasoned MFPer if there is a method to accurately track burn for strength training?0
