Biggest loser curse

I wake up today and scale hasn't moved and of course wanted to reach a certain number on the scale by tomorrow. I sit here with the "screw it" attitude but at the same time I'm telling myself that over a month I've lost some weight at a healthy pace(about 2lbs a week) with a cheat meal her and there. So I blame those shows like biggest loser for having those weekly "ridiculous" numbers plastered in my head, and at same time wanting those results. This of course is just me venting and I'm sure if I continue on this road I will be were I want to be by end of the year and since I am doing it healthy will keep it manageable.
Sorry gang, just needed a vent with people I'm sure feel like me.

Hey, I think a lot of us follow into that trap. And it IS a trap, you know, as you and I both know that 2 lbs a week is a really great rate of weight loss! We set unrealistic expectations for ourselves because it's hard to admit that our goal is farther away than we want it to be.

However I can tell you from my own struggles that the "screw it" mentality is going to screw you over and over again. Ignore the scale, and keep doing what you've been doing. If you're plateauing, switch it up. Just keep going. The scale won't stay still forever, and it sucks now but where would you rather be in 6 months? Healthier and happier or starting over again?

Let yourself have a small pity party (hey, they can be nice to indulge in once in a while), and then keep trucking. Focus as hard as you can on the long term. :)

I was watching it the other day and shaking my head. People being disappointed losing more than 1% of their weight in a week. That's fantastic!

If i worked out 6 hours a day, had a personal trainer and nutritionists and didn't lose 12lbs a week, I'd be highly pissed off too so I stopped watching that damn show. Instead I watch my 600lb life. Much more realistic expectations and journeys. They also follow each individual for an entire year.

Haha! Its so true man. I find it to be important to have a spreadsheet with a graph showing your weight loss with a weekly weigh in. Even the small losses add up and the graph trends downwards.

People on the biggest loser not only have the best of best trainers and equipment they also are devoid of outside influences like stress and crap out of their control.

And the really important achievements are the new healthy habits you are getting in place which will stand you in good stead all your life. Be proud of those. They are part of your personal strength.

If you want those same results from "Biggest Loser" you also need to put in the same work: They exercise nearly 8 hours a day.

My friend has been a Production Assistant on that show for six years. Do NOT be deceived by their "weekly" weigh-ins. The contestants don't know until the day before that they are being weighed in. And it's NEVER a "week". Sometimes it's 5 days, sometimes is a month. It's entertainment. Television. A reality competition, so don't fall into the trap of comparison to them.
