Question about BMR

I went to one of those calculators that calculate my BMR and it said I need 1894 calories. When I updated my profile of My Fitness Pal its saying I need 1380 calories. My goal is to lose weight so which one do I go by?

Did the calculator simply calculate your BMR or did it give you a weight loss goal based on your BMR?
Since the number from MFP is about 500 less than what the BMR calculator told you, I think what happened is that MFP created a 500 calorie deficit for you based on the estimate of your BMR.
If you need 1,894 calories to maintain your weight, eating 1,380 will give you a 500 calorie deficit. This will result in weight loss. Since 1,380 is a pretty low goal, make sure you're eating back at least some of your exercise calories if you're active. This will help maintain your energy levels.0 -

you're here, do what the tool says. Your BMR is not "what you need" it's a large part of "what you burn"0
