Worried to exercise but I know I need it.

My blood pressure is under control with medication but my cholesterol is borderline high now. Today when I worked out I got lightheaded and had heart burn. That worries me but at the same time I know I need to excercise to get healthy. I do have a follow up with my doctor in February and will talk to her about things.
I also have no control when it comes to food. It's comfort and as soon as I finish something bad, I immediately regret it. But I don't know how to stop. Then my husband asks me what I want from Taco Bell or where I want to go out to eat every other night and I can very rarely say no. I think I just need some support. I used to belong to Jenny Craig and that worked out well but I couldn't keep continue paying $500 a month.

Anyway.... Any words of wisdom or support are more than welcome.

Thanks for listening.

You have to get your mind in the weight loss mode. Make little changes in your diet each week and watch the weight goes down. Once you are start losing, you will want to continue. My first change was NOT drinking anymore sodas...then it was NOT eating potato chips. Start making your changes today.

    Hello there!

I have a love hate relationship with exercise and I'm certainly not a fan of the burnout method where you push yourself to exhaustion. I would say definitely work on the diet side first, changing your relationship with food was the most significant part for me. You can also introduce low intensity work outs even if it's just stretching and a bit of Yoga to start it's going to help. Also resistance bands really help with your upper body. If you need a little more support or would like to chat feel free to add me :)

Thanks guys. I made it over a huge hurdle this morning. Someone brought donuts into the office. I want one SO bad but I haven't taken one. I had my oatmeal with a banana and coffee. Next hurdle is free lunch Friday. *biting nails*

It's a maturity level and it's also a personality type. Or, it's a wakeup call.

You can't out exercise a bad diet. And you can't eat celery and carrots all day, either.

Food is fuel, not entertainment. And you need cardio plus weight training, not just one or the other.

Great job on not eating the donuts! Way too many calories for what you get. I used to get nervous about eating out, but not anymore. I cut the restaurant portion in half and ask for a box, when they first bring it. It's amazing how much more slowly you'll eat the smaller portion. I count the calories as best I can if they aren't on the menu. As for Taco Bell, find a food in your calorie range and pick that one when your hubby is making a Taco run.

You can keep your lifestyle, if you decide to just eat less of the portion sizes and not sabotage yourself with high calorie items, like donuts. I'll have one bite and savor it, if I really want something like that. If the one bite doesn't coat my mouth with fat and make me wonder why I'm eating the processed junk I might eat more, but I log it at the time so I can see what havoc it's making of my carefully pre-logged day.

lossing weight is a struggle for many ppl as is saying no to certain foods. Eat small portions..cooking at home is so much better than going out so you have to learn to saying no to going out to often...do some cardio and if you choose add some weight later on down the line. My cholesterol use to be high never on meds though and working out 3-4 times a week..eating diffrently my numbers are back to normal and it will help your high blood pressure. Good Luck with your journey

Get a stress test, pronto. The lightheadedness and heartburn symtoms need to be ruled out as not cardiac related before you start an excerise program.
