Drink what you want and go from there. Alcohol on it's own has 7 calories per gram by itself. That would be if drinking straight up liquor. 1oz of 40 proof alcohol yields you about 22 grams, or 154 calories
You're generally looking at about 125 calories for a 5oz glass of red wine or 150-170 for 12oz of beer (depends on the beer or wine).

Just make sure to adjust for the additional calories through diet or exercise.

Wanted to correct my math, was mixed up before: 1oz of 80 proof alcohol yields you about 11 grams, or 77 calories

Too late. I went by your original calculations and gained 175 pounds. Thanks a lot.

I love wine. If an entire bottle fits in a glass, that's only 1 glass in my book. Just fit it in your calories as everyone else has been saying. I also just cut back when I drink. I can't have just one beer or one glass of wine, so I save it and make sure I had a deficit for the week to account for my wine habit. I've been known to have a glass or two every night, but now it's down to either Friday or Saturday.

    Cheers!
