This may seem like a strange question but I am unsure of where to take my waist measurements. Some websites say that your waist is around your belly button, and some say it is just under your ribs. My measurement an inch bellow my belly button is 31 inches and my measurement right under my ribs is 27 inches. That's a three inch difference, which one is my actual waist measurement?

Ha!!! I count the smallest measurement I get in the area between my ribs and hips.........IMO that is your waist.

I've always gone the belly button route; it's easy to find and keeps me consistent.

Well first off, that's a 4" difference, but you measure the smallest part of your waist.

Bend to the side, where you side creases is your waist line

Some places use around your belly button.
Some places use your natural waist...which is usually about an inch above your belly button ie the smallest part around your waist.

There's no iron 'actual' waist. I use the natural waist version because it's the easiest to find. Just pull the tape in to the smallest part.
