New, but....

Hi everyone. I am new to the program but not sure whether I will stick with it. The reason being, just in the 3 days I have been using it I have been 'too aware' of logging everything which has resulting in myself being hungry all the time. I know enough about nutrition if the body cries hunger then it actually needs food. I am a small eater to begin with, usually having healthy child portions (usually the source of amusement everywhere); however, since Tuesday evening when I started using the program I have been starving hungry and wanting to eat more than normal. This has not just been cravings, but real hunger. Because I have blood sugar at the lower end of normal, I do have to eat if I feel myself going 'funny', but I do stick to healthy stuff like fruit etc. I have toyed with the idea of buying the rather expensive Heston Blumenthal Nutritab scales that do a similar thing, and wondered if anyone else has or uses these scales and if any better or of benefit or not?

    Hi dear.
Welcome. Maybe you put on not enough calories (you can adjust manually) Weightloss doesn't mean you should suffer all the time and if you do, it will not work.
Get some friends (you can add me if you like) they are a big help too to stick the journey

I don't think counting calories is the way to go for everyone. If you're already eating healthy portion sizes and making proper nutrient decisions then keeping a diary might have more negative effects than positive.

If you do want to stick with it then perhaps you should try increasing your calorie allowance for a while and see if that makes you feel better. Even a hundred calories makes a difference.

A piece of personal experience, though; When I started tracking I stopped eating almost cold turkey. I went from a 3000+ daily intake to just 1500 (not sure if that was a healthy choice or not) and I was hungry all the time. I stuck with it, however, and now I find it hard to eat enough, never mind being hungry for more.

Either your calorie deficit is too high or you just need time to adjust.

Thanks to both of you for replying. By sheer chance I saw your replies and am puzzled as I ticked the box to be notified when I get replies, but I haven't actually had the notification. In the few days I have been doing this I have found there has been very little difference in what I eat normally. Any extra calories that i go over are due to the odd Dolce Gusto chocolate or mocha pod I have and not so much food. I am pretty 'au fait' with nutrition and usually the one who gives advice to others ha ha. I am sure it has been brought on as a psychological effect as when I think back to my teenage years of trying to lose weight it was similar. As soon as I went on a 'diet' everything went wrong. The crazy thing is, I never actually was overweight apart from around age 15-16. Because I am small frame I only have to look at a chip and I put on weight. Sadly now I am in my late 50's my metabolism has slowed down; to to that a lack of exercise due to disability it is not easy. I agree with you about calorie counting not being for everyone. I look at my fat intake more than anything, as the effects of fat is 3x that of calories. I won't add any friends right now as I feel it won't be fair if the worst happens and I don't stick around with the app. I will bear you both in mind though if I do stick with it and will come back to you either way. I will give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes. Now all I have to do is track down the other posts I have made and see if there are replies there too!

If you're overweight your portions have not been as small as you think.

Arditarose: Have you not read my posts properly? I KNOW about nutrition and i eat child-size portions! I am laughed at (not in a nasty way) whenever eating out as I can never finish even a child-size portion or 'Pensioners Special'.It takes me about 20-30 minutes to eat a 'meal'. As I have already said, I know the main problem is lack of being able to do exercise and age-related metabolism. I am about 10lbs overweight and unfortunately all around my middle :-( as it has always been from a child. The rest of me is slim bordering on skinny legs.
