Calories in a recipe

Hi , I'm new here. Can anyone help me figure out calories for a recipe? I tried plugging it in but they want ingredients for one serving... I'm making broccoli cheese soup for the entire recipe I'm using 1 bag frozen broccoli florets, 4 cups low sodium chicken broth, 1 can evaporated skim milk, 1 small onion and 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese. Then I'm going to divide into 1 cup servings . Thanks if you can help!

So plug it in as one serving, weigh it when its done, and decide how many servings and the weight of each after? Or just enter the weight of the portion you ate out of 1.

That's how I do it but I'm not great at the recipe builder/technology in general

In the recipe section you can adjust the amount of servings. Theres an arrow in upper right corner. Hope this is what you mean.....

You'll be a bit shocked by the calories in 2 cups of sharp cheddar cheese.
88 grams of fat for starters. Blocks any health benefits of broccoli. 29 grams of sugar in a cup of evaporated milk.

So what? The OP didn't ask us to critique her recipe.

When I make a recipe, I input all complete weight of all foods I put in, then I divide up the portions and however many I have, thats how many portions I put in the portion section of the recipe. Then when I log it, I put in 1 serving - its never gonna be perfect, but its gonna be damn close

I'm guessing that's on the app. If you're using the website, just click in the box before serving, which defaults to 1, and change it to however many servings you want the recipe to be.

TIP: You can wait until you're done and weigh the entire amount of food yielded by the recipe. I have a list of the weights of various pots and pans and other containers on my refrigerator, so I can subtract them from the weight of the finished recipe in whatever I cooked it in. Many people put the total weight of the food in grams as the number of servings, and then just weigh their own portion and use that weight (again in grams) as the number of servings they had. If you prefer to use the actual number of servings you plan for it to yield, that's fine. When I do that, I actually put the weight of one serving in the name of the recipe. (Divide total weight by number of servings, obviously. Let's say I get 145 g. Then the name of the recipe would be "Broccoli cheddar soup (srvg = 145 g".) You can edit both the recipe and the number of servings if you want to (for example, if you enter all the ingredients before or while it's cooking and save it, you can go back in when it's done and you know the total weight.)
