Why that new year's resolution is probably going to fail

Nia Shanks is a blogger that I like to read from time to time. I thought I'd share her insight into why so many people stop sticking to their resolutions over the next couple of weeks. If you're thinking about giving up for any of the reasons she mentions...well, maybe you can just refocus instead. :)

For the record, I'm not affiliated and I don't buy her workout plans.

It's all good advice and she's right, I just don't like that she goes right into selling her workout...LOL

I've always said that changing 1 habit every 2 weeks (for me it takes 2 weeks of getting rid of that habit for it to stick) is better than doing it all at once. So what if I had a Coke, I did 30 minutes on the treadmill...that sort of thing. And soon, after weeks and weeks, you'll not drink the Coke and you've done our workout and you just do that. That's your new life. If you try and be perfect off the bat because of the date on the calendar, it won't work.

I'd say most "newbies" that come here to lose weight want the fastest way to do it. Like when they get to their goal life will be so much better than you won't ever have to worry about weight again. They are so wrong. I lost 50lbs almost 4 years ago and never has a day gone past since I have not thought about "keeping it off". It's a lifetime of struggle. It's never easy. The "fat" girl inside me wants to sit on the couch with a bag of Wavy Lays and a container of French Onion dip and eat the whole thing. The "thin" girl knows that if I do that #1: I'll get sick and #2: I'll erase all the hard work I've done. Not so much because it's a one time thing, it's because once I "relax" that one time I'll want to do it every night. Then exercise goes out the window. Then I'm buying bigger pants.
