How do you see the ingredients of a recipe?

I'll search the database for a casserole item.
But how can I see the ingredients to see if it was comparable to what I had for dinner.
So I always pick the highest calorie item so I won't under recording.

I have entered recipes myself on MFP and had to give details.
So why can't I see the details of other people's in entries?
Thanks for the help
Ivy

I've only seen it when someone was considerate enough to put as many details as possible in the title before they shared their recipe with mfp database.

When you enter a new recipe it ask for all the nutritional value, the ingredients and how prepared. So if that info is in there, why can't we review it?

I agree with you. Perhaps you could put this question in the suggestions/feedback forum, you might get feedback from staff or the more tech savvy users who often respond to users there with suggestions or workarounds.

Sometimes I look for a similar recipe on a cooking site and get the calorie count there. If necessary, I log a somewhat similar casserole but adjust the serving count until I match the total calories I'm aiming at. Or, I figure close enough is good enough, as long as my weight loss rate still suits me--no need to get the pencil all that sharp.
