Hello all!
48 year old woman here. Single, no kids. The "Ivan" from ivanhogsmybed is my big orange Siberian cat. I couldn't think of a username and then he jumped on the bed, so.
I had laparoscopic surgery last week for ovarian cysts and the anesthetic really affected me, so at the moment I'm not doing much but lying around and eating a big strangely (appetite is a bit off and nausea comes and goes). HOWEVER, once I'm out of the woods with that, I plan to get serious about diet and exercise. I'd like to lose 50-60 lbs this year.
One thing I have going for me is time. I just finished a master's degree and will be jobsearching for a while, so my schedule is very flexible. No excuses!
I'm trying myfitnesspal because apparently I can't judge my caloric intake and exercise very well! That is evident from the weight gain! I think my problem is like that extra 100-200 calories per day, you know? It's not a crazy amount of extra food, but it adds up. And I haven't been exercising as much as I should. This is partly due to a mono-like illness I had for most of 2014 and then a truly crazy 2015 of work stress (in the end I quit to focus on my studies).
I'm a bit thrown by the food aspects of myfitnesspal. E.g. if I have bibimbap at a restaurant, can the app handle that? I guess I'll find out. Adjusting my eating habits to sort of fit the app might make for an interesting challenge. Apparently I am to aim for 1400 calories per day. Hmmm... doesn't seem like much!
So, that's me! I look forward to getting to know everyone!
