Hi there, my name is Dave. For most of my life I've been a big fan of food but unfortunately too much of a good thing is a bad thing. A few years ago I found myself over 300 pounds and living a very unhealthy lifestyle. Through counting calories I managed to get down to 220 pounds. It was a very exciting journey. I managed to keep the weight off for 4 years while living on my own.
Then, in 2013 something changed and I met my lovely wife. I felt that it was a great change to have someone to share life with. We went out and did things, found new adventures, and ate food. Being in love distracted me from everything including my calorie reduced diet. I unfortunately gained my weight back and I am over 300 pounds again.
While I was a bit resentful of gaining the weight and all the restaurant meals we shared, I realized something. She is my greatest asset in my journey to be a healthier me. She encourages me, helps me portion control, and together we have began to live a healthier lifestyle together. Alot of the portion control and calorie counting was new to her as she is a lucky one with a faster metabolism. We focus on eating foods to keep us full such as higher protein and fiber and are both feeling better.
So here I am today, down about 13 pounds since my initial weight-in. I know I can do it because I did it before. This time I am using MFP to log my calories and am using a FitBit to track fitness levels. I wanted to write this because I am not perfect and losing and gaining all the weight back was a large set back. But with encouragement I plan on losing the weight again. Thanks for learning a bit about me!
