Setting Up Fitbit Zip

Alright, so I want to try to put my Fitbit to use again, but do not know where to start. Forgive me if any of the following questions are silly:
1) When I tried using my Fitbit at 160 pounds, which I am at again, it said I burned 250-300 calories by walking what I thought was 3.0mph, no more than 3.5mph, for 30 minutes. That seems to be waaaay too much. Anyone else have this problem, or an explanation?
2) Also, how much do you use your Fitbit tracker? Pretty much any time you are awake and are moving?
3) If connected to MFP, it should track EVERY calorie burned, meaning you do not have to log extra workout activity (for example, walking), right? It will just add that in on its own?
Thank you!

I have a fb one, which is a larger clip on model. I wear it all the time I'm awake. To get correct mph you need to make sure your stride is set accurately on the web interface. Steps x stride= distance. It counts cals only from step based exercises and does not consider incline/resistance on a hill, treadmill, or elliptical. Hope that helps. Happy walking!0

Now, meaning it will not log while I'm on the elliptical? So I guess I should log elliptial separately? Did I read that right?0 -
I've got a fitbit too,(charge HR) it basically logs ALL calories burned, so not just through fat burning exercise but every little movement. On the fitbit app it should give you a calorie deficit that you need to stick to to lose weight, it's the icon that looks a bit like a speedometer I keep mine on all day and charge it at night. You are sposed to put it into exercise mode when you go to gym etc, to do that you long hold the button until it buzzes and a stopwatch appears, you long hold again to end exercise mode, then you can enter the specific exercise you did on the app for the corresponding time. I confess I nearly always forget to do that though!
