Ok so I've always had a positive opinion of Starbucks but today was not so good. I went in this morning to try their pb&j bistro box. I had never had it before so I was excited to try it out. I get home and open it...then BOOM it hit me...this long nasty strand of hair sitting right on top of the apple slices!! It just blew me! And oh trust me I threw it right out. So anyways just thought I'd share this so all you Starbucks lovers be ware...

And why is this important?0

It happens. Whenever someone else prepares your food, there is a chance that their hair and other debris could get in.

So ALL Starbucks is this way? How about bringing back the box and getting a new one and voicing your concern to the establishment you go to instead?

Yeah. I had a spider in a salad once LOL.

It was just really disappointing to me when I was so anxious to try it.0

What an incredible waste of food. Rinse off your apple slices, eat them, and move on. If it bothers you that much, take it back to Starbucks and get a replacement.
I never have understood the obsession people have about hair and food - but even humoring that obsession, I'm sure it is not Starbucks policy to put hair in your food, or that it could even implement a policy that would ensure that it never happen accidentally.

You should go back with the food and they will probably refund you (and apologize!). I have worked as a waitress and at a Mcdonald's, and I know sometimes things go wrong! So try to be understanding, specially if it only happened ONCE.
But I know it can be very disappointing and annoying. I've happened to have been delivered (what's the right grammar for this!?) the wrong take out food and I threw (an internal) fit. Now I just check what is in the bag .0 -
I worked in a bakery once and a customer made a huge deal and even drove back with her half eaten dessert to show us that there was a hair in it...0

I'm sure they will replace it. Unfortunate but nothing I'll worry over. Could be worse too, I spent 4 days hospitalized from eating a restaurant meal, that had no hair, just Salmonella.0

Eh. I don't get excited about Starbucks food. There's usually a bakery with fresh food across the street from one so I can't really justify getting Starbucks. Maybe just because the calories are listed. Still not worth it.0

The listed calories are a huge turn off, lol.0 -
I had a friend who was always finding hair in her food. Funny though, to me it always liked like her hair. Never was any other color, type, etc.0

In the two years I've been here, there have been a bunch of threads started about finding hairs/pubes/lougees in Starbucks stuff. Yes, maybe I'm paying too much attention. I should get out more.
I don't know if it's to rile folks up for har hars or if it's really happening...
Interesting that it's always "Starbucks" though. This kinda thing can happen anywhere.
I've found hairs in my food several types of places and never payed about. My guess is that there is a correlation between the people who go to Starbucks and the people who whine about these kinds of things online.0 -
and you came on mfp to complain about this?0

Yikes! That would have been traumatic for me.0 -
i found a bunch of staples in a salad once! i was wondering what was so chewy and sharp...
when i showed the guy behind the counter, he blurted out- "i TOLD him not to refill the stapler over the salad bar..!!"0 -
Most places are pretty nice about replacing food if something like this happens. As for the PB&J, I thought it was pretty alright. I'm still miffed that they got rid of the chicken and hummus box.
The worst thing that's happened to me was getting food poisoning from shrimp quesadillas at Los Cucos.

I ordered a cup of rice and beans once from a small corner store. There was plastic in it.
I walked in and got my money back. No need to call them out by name. This type of stuff happens everyday. If it bothers you that much, prepare your own food at home. Otherwise accept the fact that sometimes debris can fall into your food.
Not to mention the people in 3rd world countries who would love to have that sandwich, hair or not !0 -

Where else could people log their fav Starbucks foods and also complain about them all on the same site ??!??!!?0 -

The spider in the salad makes me think of the frog in the salad bag!

Omg lol!
The spider was at my college cafeteria. I complained about that one though but was too turned off to eat more salad, lol.0 -
Maybe it was just a vent post? Trying to figure out the necessity of being rude... New here yet I see people write about all types of stuff-- how the person above them is going to die, would they date them...all non-health related things. Kindly direct the op to whatever forum this sort of post should be located, ignore the post, or keep it moving...why so serious???0

I never heard of anyone dying from eating something that had a hair on it. You'd be fine.0

That supposedly happens quite often in Australia. The way I look at it, a frog is very sensitive to it's environment. If it can survive in the bag, the chemicals used to wash the lettuce must be safe to eat XD
ETA In regards to a strand of hair in your food: at least it means it was prepared by a person. Remove it and move on, I say. I might second guess it if it looked like a short and curly though, if you know what I mean *wink wink*0 -
What magic ingredient is in your shampoo that you never lose hair?! I need that. Also you clearly do not live with any furry pets.
It happens. Rinse it off. It won't kill you.0 -
I don't get the thing with hair. I mean ok, it's not great to find a hair in food but people touch their hair all the time. Then they touch your food.mangrothian wrote: »Queenmunchy wrote: »thorsmom01 wrote: »It happens. When I worked in a kitchen in Queensland, we regularly got green tree frogs in the lettuce deliveries. One once made it to a salad. I told the customer that it proved it was organic, rinsed the dressing off the frog and released the poor little thing outside.thorsmom01 wrote: »I ordered a cup of rice and beans once from a small corner store. Yup, I don't get this culture of public shaming every tiny indiscretion. Call the outlet, complain, get a free voucher if you want, but "beware"? really? I feel so sorry for the service industry today, the most minor issue and people want a lynch mob.0
