I wonder if some of the barriers to valid food diary reporting will be mitigated over time by online tracking tools, though on the other hand it all comes down to honesty, memory, and accuracy.

I do believe that the article writer was paid by the word.
The only way to get truly valid data on what people are eating is to isolate them and give them all of their food. That's very expensive so researchers don't want to do that.0
