This might seem an odd post to put in Motivation & Support. But bear with me.
I joined MFP over 2 years ago and promptly forgot all about it, until a friend (RL) reminded me about the site. I came back to it just over a month ago and have been logging daily since. I have also gained many new "friends". And therein lies the problem.
I say problem, however It's actually more of a bugbear. I receive 2 or 3 friend requests a week. This in itself seems fine. At first I accepted every new request. "Whoo, more new friends!" But thyen i started to notice that of the 46 (currently ) friends, most of these people I never heard from after that initial Accept.
It started me thinking. Am I just a number on somebodies list? "Look at me I have over 300 friends" I stopped accepting friends requests from anybody who didn't include a short message or introduction. But even then, many new adds I have never heard from again.
I started adding friends, maybe people with similar interests to my own, with the hopes that we could swap stories and help to motivate each other. This was, I understood it, what the friendlist was all about.
I regularly receive comments on my posts. Most of these seem to be a generic "WTG" or "Great Burn" which, while nice, aren't very motivational.
Does anybody else find that their friends never interact with them, or give them the most cursory mention? Or is it just me? I am currently thinking of having a friends clearout as most of the people on my friends list have never interacted once, since I added them.
I'm not here to be a number to add to your collection. I'm here to find help and motivation on my weight loss/tone up journey.
