I was just wondering about how much sodium causes you retain water? I'm just trying to see if my weight gain is from the sodium I had yesterday which was about 2500mg. Thank you!

How much weight you retain from sodium will vary from person to person. For some people a reasonable amount of sodium will not cause them to retain any weight for others it could be as much as 5lbs. It also varies by how much sodium that you normally intake.
2500mg is not a high sodium level so if you are healthy it probably won't cause you to retain unless your sodium level is usually much less.
I have HPB and on meds for it so 2500mg and above causes me to retain water...anywhere from 2-5lbs.
There are lots of reasons why your weight could be up. You didn't give much information such as how much it is up and for how long it has been up.
Did you consume a lot of carbs over the weekend...more than usual food intake...constipation...etc...etc can affect your weight.0 -
There is no specific way to know why your weight fluctuates up and down from day to day. It's normal. There are lots of processes going on in the body. Everyone's body is different. Just log your weight and follow your plan. It all works out In the end. Trust the process.0

If you're worried about consuming extra sodium, next time just be sure to drink extra water to flush it out of your system.0

Everyone is different - just drink lots of water the day after and you'll be back to normal within a day or 2!0
