Hey All,
I just turned 42 and after a slight distraction I getting back on track. I ran my first 10k and half marathon last year. Finished the half in just over 3 hours with no training. I will not do that again. I've signed up for the same hilly half again this April and I want to crush it. Along with that losing some weight will only help me significantly. Looking to lose 40lbs during my training. Could use any motivation and encouraging words I can get.

I did my first half at 42 without any specific training after I had done a 10k, and didn't it hurt :) A year later, and some proper training, I did my first Ultramarathon of 34 miles!!! I know in my half it was a bit demoralising being overtaken by a Tomato and a Penguin near the end. However, we have done it, and that is a lot more than most people have done, so keep up with the fun, and enjoy getting out there running :)

Hi there! Congrats on completing your first half! Finishing is an accomplishment in itself. But, kudos for you wanting to improve as well! I am about to train for my second half marathon this April too. Feel free to add me if you'd like another running friend!

I started running when I turned 40 (which was last year). I don't run any races but my goal is to be fully prepared to run a half marathon in 2-3 days notice. I like to go to different cities and run half-marathon distances in them just to add them to my list. There is nothing stop you. Be smart in your training and you will do well.
