Hi! When counting calories for rice, is the nutritional information listed referring to the rice cooked or uncooked?

Depends on the listing - it should say.

For reference, 1/4c uncooked jasmine rice is typically ~170cal.

It depends on which food item you choose from the Food Database.

Add the word raw or cooked to your search to bring up different items based on how you want to log the rice.

depends on the listing. for accuracy you should use the uncooked entry. however..... since my rice is made in a rice pot.... i use a cooked entry.

If you use a cooked entry I strongly suggest to add 20% extra.. when I calculated my rice calories (by weighing raw then cooked) and compared to the database entry, it was 20% lower calories than my rice actually was.

But I weighed obviously, didn't use measuring cups.

i dont eat enough of it to matter (for/to me) LOLOL

obviously, if rice is something you eat a lot of, or large servings of, the accuracy is much more important :)

It depends. Some brands/packaging states what the weight of uncooked rice should be after cooking, therfore giving you the calories for both...
