Use a food scale, log accurately, and make choices that will fill you up while keeping calories low. Patience. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

Yep - this is your boost.
Thanks. I find that 'quick tips' are just mental clutter that get in the way0 -

take one thing away at a time, don't get super strict right out the gate! When I was almost 300 pounds, I used to drink a 2 liter bottle of Mountain Dew every day. That was the first thing I took away and I lost 20 pounds before the scale stopped. Gradual tweaks as you go along! Good luck0

Picture that you are setting up good habits for your life not just doing a short weight loss sprint. I suggest going slowly. Start with thinking about what exercise you can face doing most days a week. If it's only a 5 minute walk, start with that, record it proudly and only increase it when you feel ready. Then think about increasing the number of healthy vegetables in your day. Start small and gradually replace unhealthy choices like French fries with healthy vegies. If you often drink sodas replace one of them with water. Notice how refreshing that change is and replace another one. Teach yourself some healthy recipes. One new discovery for me is how healthy food is delicious, comforting and satisfying. That is slowly helping me to rely more on healthy food to help me get through the day. Whatever junk food does for you, healthy food can do way better. Eating healthy food is a feel good experience.0
