I started back up on my birth control yesterday and I look worse than yesterday. Do you think that birth control just causes bloat or does it really cause weight gain back? I mean I don't even know if I've lost anything..but if my bc causes weight gain I don't think I'll ever be able to loose weight

It may cause you to be hungrier than normal which causes you to eat more. It could cause you to be more tired, which can cause you not to be as active. It can cause water retention until your body gets used to it. But no, it will not cause FAT weight gain.
You will be able to LOSE weight on birth control provided you get exercise, measure your food properly (ie, weigh all foods (not measuring cups) and use measuring cups for liquids only), provided you eat enough but not too much, and provided that you are properly tracking everything you consume.0 -
Bunk. I'm losing weight and on birth control. BC does not cause proper weight gain. Water retention, yes, in some people increased appetite, yes.
To be honest, it sounds like you're looking for excuses.0 -
I have been on lots of different types of birth control my whole life and it didn't cause me to gain weight. There are lots of women on MFP who are on birth control and LOSE weight just fine.0

In one day, you wouldn't notice a difference that significant and birth control does not directly cause weight gain. You may just be retaining slightly more water than yesterday.0

There is a lot of discussion on both sides of this topic. What I suggest is not to view something (such as increased appetite or feeling bloated) to the birth control and think there is nothing you can do about it. There are a lot of things that can cause these changes. The fact that you just got on BC may cause you to pay more attention to your body's signals and then correlate it with starting BC making it the cause.
You can lose weight! Don't let your mind tell you otherwise.0 -
I'm on BC at the moment and am still losing weight. It can cause fluid retention which is easily fixed by consuming more water.0
