My husband smokes us some ribs quite often - 2x a month or so. I just log them and try not to worry too much. I usually don't weigh the meat or anything on those days I eat ribs. I also overestimate. So - I will have 2 ribs, pick the highest entry in the MFP database and then log it as 2.5 ribs or something similar.

Usually, the calorie count on the package will only be for the edible portion (so, without the bones). I know we get meat from a butcher without sauce or anything, so there usually isn't nutritional info on the meat. So, I do know that 3 oz (edible - no bone) of pork rib is about 350 cals. Then you gotta remember to add any sauces that were added. I also know that the regular pork ribs USUALLY have about 1 oz edible meat per rib, but that depends on how they are cut, how big the animal is, etc... there can be a BIG variation and weighing before you eat and then weighing bones after is really the only way to know for sure.

The weight would be for the meat...you don't eat the bones...unless stated otherwise, the calorie counts are for edible portions of food.

I use entries for "ribs - meat only"

You can weigh them before eating, weigh the bones after eating, subtract, and then use the entry for ribs-meat only like @rosebarnalice does. That's what I've heard most often.

I usually look for a restaurant portion at a place I'm familiar with and guesstimate based on that. Of course, since almost all the bone-in ribs I eat anymore are at a restaurant, that works out. The only home ones are ones my mom makes, and since I live in a different state, that's like once a year. At that point, it counts as celebration/holiday foods so I'm not as strict!
