iWatch calorie adjustment

I noticed that my watch says I've burned 589 calories today but my fitness pal only gave me a 420 calorie adjustment.

Does anyone know why this is or what it's about??

Hmmm are you looking at TOTAL BURNED or ACTIVE CALORIES? I'm on iWatch too and find it extremely accurate.

I'm looking at active calories. My watch says 608 (now) but my fitness pal on gives me 489 (now) 6zxa7cvlrsws.jpeg

It doesn't look like its synced I had my IPhone listed as the default before I started using my Fitbit. Check to see if the Apple Watch can synchronize with MFP.

I thought it was synced, it's tracking steps but I'll check out some setting and make sure if I have it done correctly.
    Thank you

That looks like your daily active calories burned just being you. Make sure you are using the workout app when you are actually working out. It's the little green app with the shadow of someone running.

The Apple Watch uses your heart rate which is more accurate than MFP. I would go by what the Apple Watch says. I don't sync my Apple Watch with anything but the app that comes with it, and Apple Health. Seems to be quite accurate so far.

My total calories on the watch was almost 2000. I had a pretty active day -- 30 minute walk with my dog at a brisk pace, 45 minutes of horse riding including 30 minutes of jumping and my strength training plus push ups and jumping jacks so I don't think this is calories of me just having a regular day

But I have not been using that workout app, I'll start making sure I do that

Do you have negative adjustments enabled in MFP?

What have you set your MFP activity level to?

It could be that you haven't earned as many calories as say, highly active allows.

    OR,

Have you set the iWatch goal (if it has one) to lose the same amount of weight as MFP?

MFP might be set to lose more.

When I use the workout app it syncs with MFP, and puts those specific calories burned in as a workout. I also find that it is way more accurate than MFP. I hope you like the workout app.

I had not thought of these. So I'm set to the lowest activity level wanting to lose .5 per week but don't think have negative adjustments turned on but my watch is synced. I need to go check if the negative adjustments are on.

MFP says I get 1580 calories a day and the watch says my total daily calories according to the watch my total calories burned today was 2135.

I put my health data in but as far as I can tell there isn't a place to say I want to lose X amount of weight per week

The workout app causes the Apple Watch to measure your heart rate every 5 seconds during the workout. Normally it measures your heart rate every 10 minutes. You can also view all your data in the health app on your iPhone.

I have 3 fitness watches that just sit in my drawer since I got my Apple Watch.

    Which one did you get?

I got the sports one at first, but after doing some more research I learned that the other model was stainless steel, had a sapphire display, and ceramic back. I returned the sports model and got the better one.

Go into your Exercise Diary and click on the little 'i' icon next to where it says "MFP iOS Calorie Adjustment". The resulting pop-up window explains how they calculate the added calorie allowance.

I have the Sport and so far love it! Just trying to figure out all the calorie information. Mainly had questions if my total calories already included my active calories

The watch counts any recorded workouts as exercise calories, but it is also smart enough to know how active you are and will count that as exercise without having to record a workout. It will add to your exercise calories and exercise minutes automatically. So the calories in the move section are your total exercise calories.

I don't log my food so I don't link my apple watch to MFP. I do log my exercise into MFP manually at the end of each day though.
