Very low calorie foods

Hi all. I am wondering how you guys log very low calorie foods like pickles. Because the calorie count is so low they can put 0 calories on the label. So even if I change the quantity to 3 or 4, the calorie count in app is still 0. I THINK the reality would be something more like 4-5 calories per serving. Do you just do a quick add and estimate on the high end? That is what I have been doing.

I just use the bar code and weight and if it doesn't go over 0 I don't worry about it. Pickles are the only thing I eat that this happens with and I eat them rarely.

You can use a USDA entry. It's annoying when you use things like Splenda or Stevia in a recipe though because 99% of the entries will tell you that it's 0 calories...

Things that are genuinely minuscule calories that I don't use much of (lettuce, pickles, herbs and spices) I don't bother to log, as it just seems like a huge amount of effort for 5 calories here or there. There is always the bar code scanning function if it bothers you too much- or if that doesnt work I like to google it and figure out the calories myself if I have to.

Yep. About the only thing I don't log is non-salt spices. Everything else-- from lettuce ot celery to pickles gets logged.

Is there a UK equivalent entry in the MFP food database?

I don't think that things like pickles will have different nutrition values because they are American and not English, lol.

I was thinking more like, there is USDA in the database, is there a UK version?

I'm in Australia and use the USDA data base for meat, vegies and whole foods. Pickles are pretty much the same the world over.

Pickles are in the MFP database. Pick the one that most resembles the type you ate and move on. But LOG it. Those 5 cals here and there add up in a hurry and could prevent you from reaching your goals in a timely fashion.
