Grilled chicken breast

So I found several entries on here for "grilled chicken breast". Is it safe to assume that since it is titled "grilled", I can safely weigh the chicken breast after it has been grilled and still get an accurate calorie count?

No. You dont know if it was marinated or brushed with oil before going on the grill.

Its always best to weigh raw if you can. If not, look at several entries and pick the one that seems the most accurate. I usually pick the best one i can and then add 25% to the weight.

If you're weighing it cooked, the USDA has an option for cooked chicken (Chicken - Breast, meat only, cooked, roasted). Otherwise, most grilled chicken breasts are assumed to be raw weights unless noted otherwise on the package.

Grilled chicken breast is a PITA to log. Honestly I just use the Perdue or Wegmans entries now (it's what I usually buy anyway), which is 120 calories for 3 ounces... USDA says 150 calories for 3 ounces. Considering that I trim all the fat anyway, I don't feel bad using that 120 calories entry.

I buy packages of uncooked boneless skinless chicken breast and trim away all fat. So I would be safe to figure 50 calories per ounce in a worst case scenario I guess. Unfortunately it's already cooked but next time I can weigh it first.
