Just wondering if anyone out there can give me some diet tricks. I just had my first flare up and I never want to have a repeat of that attack.

Eggplant gave me an attack. It was horrible. Now I add my seeds and nuts to the vitamix for my breakfast smoothie. It makes them smooth. I never eat popcorn. Tomatoes seem to be ok. Eggplant is no longer on my diet. I also eat more slowly and chew very well.

My MIL has diverticulitis and it's brutal. Follow what your doctor says diet wise and count calories for weight loss goals. Sorry I'm not more help but honestly, where it's potentially life threatening, if infection ensues, information off of internet strangers is not the way to go.

Coming from a medical professionals opinion, talk to your dr. They have the best advice for you because they treat you.

The real trick is figuring out what triggers your attacks. :( Which sometimes means... well, having another one. They are brutal, though, and it really seems that while there's a lot of 'eat this, don't eat that' advice out there, it comes down to each individual and what they can and can't handle. Probably not what you wanted to hear. I looked for a magic bullet diet, too, but there really wasn't one. It was just a question of eliminating things and then readding them until I found what set them off.

Make one of your food goals to get 25 grams of fiber a day. Which is the DRI.
Fiber One cereal should be in your pantry. (The twig looking stuff works wonders.)
