Counting Macros 2.0

I attempted counting macros to be in a surplus some time ago. I was jotting down my notes and counting everything, but the next day I gained like 1.2 lbs. I immediately gave up because that was way too much over night. Today Is the first day trying out again, except I now joined this app.
Q: in my first attempt could that 1.2 lbs be a result in my body not being used to the surplus in calories and had I continued I would have made gradual and efficient gains (weight)?

why don't you just use MFP to log all your food in?

if you gained 1.2 pounds overnight that was more than likely glycogen/water weight. you really need to eat in a surplus for four weeks, and see how things go..it is trial and error.

Well that's why I downloaded the app so hopefully it comes through this time for me. I've dirty bulked once before and although I made gains, cutting was a *kitten*. I'm really trying to put on some size the smart way.

Oh just eat all your calories w/o fear for 1 week, or 2 cuz of water, if weight coming in fast way, decrease a bit. But dont eat like one day 3000 next 1200 etc. Trials n errors ;) good luck
