Hi,
I have my first pilates class tomorrow and a little nervous.
Any tips on what I should and shouldn't do?
And how does a typical class go

I love Pilates. Its gentle yet effective. I usually see quick results. Starting again. No gym fees. Use online free videos. Help me sleep. No bouncing and jumping. Relaxing. Teaches you how to breathe.

tell the teacher it's your first time so she can help you. and remember that it's about you and not what any one else is doing

A good instructor will coach you through your form. Pay careful attention to this and do what (s)he says. For example, when going into a bridge, you might be told to elevate one vertebrae at a time, rather than just popping off the ground. I see many new people just ignoring these cues (probably not intentional), and some instructors don't seem to like to correct people. But the exercises really do depend upon doing them properly.

Enjoy, it is difficult but relaxing, if you can imagine that. I used to have this fantastic mat pilates class and I'd do most of it with my eyes closed. I miss that class!
