I've been working out hard 5 days a week for months to loose the extra weight I gained. Yesterday I got back to exactly the weight I was before all of that and I was so excited since that means any more weight I drop will be progress and a step closer to my goal, but of course this morning I wake up filling pretty sick and under the weather. So now I'm debating weather to take today off or push myself through it. I really want to keep going and work out today, but I'm not sure if that would make me sicker since I always heard your body needs needs to rest or take it slow when your sick. A rest day does sound nice but it bugs me since I got into the habit of exercising 5 days a week.

Sick exercise rule of thumb: if the symptoms are only in your head (headache, runny nose, etc) workout. If they're in the rest of your body (aches, fatigue, stomach issues) don't workout.
Sometimes my body gets sick to signal me that something's wrong. I'm over worked or too stressed or not getting enough sleep. Is your body trying to tell you something? If I don't listen & change something, my body will straight knock me on my butt (my back will go out or I'll get violently ill)
Maybe 5 hard workouts is too much. 3 hard & 2 moderate? Maybe workout today, but take it easy.
It's your body & you know it best.0 -
Also, congrats on the loss!! Can't wait till I can say the same0

Thank you for the advice KiyakI did over react a bit, but it is just so difficult for me to stop when I've been dedicated for so long. Yesterday and today I was pretty ill, so I decided to take both days off even though I really didn't want too. There was just no way I could physically do something so demanding and I knew it would only make me worse. Your right that some times you just have to listen to your body and take it easy. That's especially hard since I've had this routine established for a long time.
I do work out pretty hard, but I don't think 5 days is too much for me. I've been working out 5 days a week for over 7 months. I think I just got very sick since the flu is going around and I always seem to be sick during the winter months. It really is difficult to break my routine and rest, but I know it's for the best and I have been working pretty hard lately. I will take the weekend off as well like normally and start again new on Monday

Glad to hear that you listened to your body & took a break. It is definitely flu season. Yuck! Good luck getting back at it on Monday!0

Yeah it is better to listen to your body then to push yourself too farI absolutely hate flu season! Thank you!! I still feel pretty sick today, but hopefully I will be better by Monday. Good luck with your weight loss as well

Congrats on your slow and steady approach , if you are going to beat yourself up about not working out today - then squeeze in your Fitness. It sounds important to you.... It won't be A Rest Day if you aren't into it --- once again , Great Job so far !!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️0

Thanks LiniaSlow and steady really is the best method too me
Fitness has become so important to me mostly because I don't ever want to go back to the way I use too be and I want to continue to move forward. But I don't want to push myself too hard, especially since I've been pretty ill. It has been nice just relaxing and not worrying about anything I do have to admit!

I also gained from vacation and the holidays. And slow and steady has gotten me close to being where I was. I also decided to take a day off from the gym this week. I wasn't sure if I should then realized it's okay. It's okay to listen to your body and give it what it needs. Even though my mind can be so driven! (My back was hurting from too many Romainian deadlifts, ugh....it's a crossfit thing.) Last thing we want to do is make things worse and therefore need to be sidelined even longer, right? Enjoy, you've earned it!0
