I just signed up for a 5k at the end of April. I don't have any access to a treadmill and it's winter so I can't run outside right now. I'm doing my cardio on a stationary bike right now. Is there anything else I can be doing at home to train?

How cold is it? Are you concerned about the cold or safety from slipping? If you really can't run outside, look up some at home body weight workout programs. Focus on squats, core, etc to build strength and cut some weight (if that's a goal of yours). Don't worry if you're not training for the actual run. If you can increase your fitness, you'll be ready in March to go out and run and still have 2 months to train.

Why can't you run outside? As long as there is no ice, dress appropriately and get moving.

Have you had experience running prior? It's difficult to train for running by doing anything else besides running. If you don't have a lot of prior experience, I don't think I'd recommend running the 5k. However, if it's a walk/run 5k and you are okay with walking most of it, your plan of doing stationary bike or other cardio indoors is probably fine.

Don't even know how to respond to this... I live in an environment which has an annual temperature range of 140 Fahrenheit and run outside year round. Like Nike says "Just DO It!"

If you are registered to run a race, how do you expect to finish it if you don't run?

Get your butt out there and you may discover it is enjoyable.

Yup! You've heard of us! Temps can be over 100 in summer and hits -40 in the winter.
