First time bulking....

Question: This might sound stupid, but I this is the first time I have bulked. I really don't know what to expect. I have put on a some weight, but I feel like my pants are getting a little tighter in the stomach area. Is this natural? I increased my food intake a couple months ago and have been working out steady. I feel like I need to stop lifting and do a bunch of cardio so I don't get fat. Any info is great!

So...tell us about your plan.
Do you have a set caloric intake? How quickly are you putting on weight? Are you on a particular lifting program?
Yes, you will put on some fat on a bulk - that is to be expected. If you were at a higher BF% when you started, and/or if you're adding weight too quickly, it's possible you're adding more fat than necessary.0 -

Well this is honestly my first time so I am really new to this. Great questions and I will have to give that some thought. I'm sure I am taking in too much fat. I haven't been as careful as I should. Sounds like I need a plan to make this make sense. tch....newbie....
I am on a lifting program via Bodyspace, and have been pretty consistent with it. I have not done much cardio since I started trying to bulk, but am starting to box again because of this extra around the middle issue.0 -
yep, you'll probably put on a little fat everywhere, but when you cut again, if you do things the right way, you'll be leaner all over.0

Definitely. It's rough to see the numbers go up and your clothes fit tighter. I'm just learning too. Just came off of my first bulk. Now cutting.0

So are you logging your calories on here? A 250 calorie surplus is best if you don't want too many fat gains but yeah, you're still going to gain fat. I've been on a bulk since November and my jeans definitely aren't fitting well and my stomach has absolutely no definition. Natural.0

Do you know what your body fat was before you started & do you know what it is now? You could start doing some cardio but keep it to one 30 minute session a week. Reduce the bulk to a 250 calories surplus as per @arditarose & to repeat what she asked, are you logging your calories on here?0

Also, in regards to adding cardio...you really should only do it to EAT MORE. You don't want to be doing so much that you are spinning your wheels and creating a little deficit.0

I would suggest reading the posts at the top of the forum under "most helpful posts"0 -
This info is incredibly helpful and no I don't have good answers to most. I have a lot to learn and figure out obviously. I was logging all of my calories for a a few months, but lately have been more frustrated trying to figure this thing out. I appreciate the feedback!0
